News Release: Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Searching for Babies Born on the First Day of Opening in 1989

Orlando, FL (July 1, 2019) – In celebration of its 30th birthday, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is searching for individuals born on opening day, September 10, 1989. These babies born at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer will be turning 30 years old, which also would have been the late Arnold Palmer’s 90th birthday.
Individuals born at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer on September 10, 1989, or those who know someone who was, should submit their information online at www.orlandohealth.com/OHAPHbaby. Participation is open to residents who currently live in Orlando Health’s immediate seven county service area, which includes Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Polk, Brevard and Volusia Counties. The deadline for entry is 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Once selected, the individuals will be contacted for more details.
“We are very excited to celebrate our upcoming 30th birthday and three decades of care in the community. We want to commemorate this milestone by celebrating the first babies who were born on that special day,” said Cary D’Ortona, president of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer.
In 1989, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer was one of only six hospitals in the nation to combine obstetrics and children’s services, improving the quality of care for both mothers and kids. Over the years, the Central Florida community grew and, in 2004, over 11,000 babies were born at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer. The hospital delivered babies until May 30, 2006, when Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies opened.
