Collaboration Between Nemours Children’s Primary Care and Orange Blossom Family Health
Brings Pediatric Care To Parramore Neighborhood

ORLANDO, Fla. – Families in Orlando’s Parramore neighborhood will soon have greater access to affordable, quality pediatric health care through a new primary care practice in the area. Orange Blossom Pediatrics will open its doors on August 14, 2017 at the corner of Parramore St. and Amelia Ave. on the campus of the OCPS’ new Academic Center for Excellence (ACE).

The practice is a unique collaboration between Orange Blossom Family Health, which operates the facility, and Nemours Children’s Primary Care, which is providing the physician services.  By combining Orange Blossom Family Health’s expertise in operating health clinics in underserved areas and Nemours Children’s Primary Care’s expertise in pediatric health care, the new clinic offers area families a wealth of primary and preventative health and dental services.  Because the practice is located on the campus of the new ACE school, parents will have the option of sending their children from the classroom to the clinic, ensuring faster treatment and less lost school time.  Parents don’t have to wait until their child is old enough to enroll in school to take advantage of all the services offered – care will be provided to children of all ages, from newborns to adolescents.

“We’re proud to join Orange Blossom Family Health in bringing exceptional pediatric health services to the Parramore neighborhood and the Academic Center for Excellence,” said Dr. Thomas Lacy, medical director for Nemours Children’s Primary Care. “Good health makes it easier for children to be good students, and good students are more likely to pursue a lifetime of good health. We’re excited to work with Orange Blossom Family Health to make it easier and more convenient for parents to help their children enjoy the dual benefits of good health and a good education.”

Bakari Burns, president and CEO of Orange Blossom Family Health, also sees tremendous benefits in the collaboration. “We’re excited about the relationship with Nemours Children’s Primary Care as it’s designed to ensure our children receive the highest quality care possible.  Whether it be for routine exams and immunizations or to address complex health issues that require coordination with a specialist, we know that the Nemours pediatrician in our clinic will be prepared to provide knowledgeable, compassionate care.”

Dr. Madhu Desiraju, a board-certified pediatrician employed by Nemours, will see patients Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Services include well-child care, immunizations, school physicals and newborn care, as well as treatment for illnesses and injuries and management of chronic medical conditions. Orange Blossom Pediatrics accepts Medicaid and most private insurances.  A sliding fee scale will be used for uninsured patients and no child will be denied care due to their parent’s inability to pay.

Orange Blossom Pediatrics is located at 701 W. Livingston Street, Building 800 in Orlando.  To schedule an appointment call (407) 428-5751.
