Anirban Basu and the Chamber of Data - There is light at the end of the tunnel. Is it coming from an oncoming train? This presentation supplies economic data and analysis juxtaposing the pre-pandemic and pandemic world, and then supplies a forecast for the post-pandemic one. Among the areas of focus are labor markets, financial markets, real estate, construction, consumer spending, business investment, international trade and government finances.
Anirban Basu is Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm in Baltimore. In 2014, Maryland governor Larry Hogan appointed him Chair of the Maryland Economic Development Commission. Anirban also serves as the chief economist to Associated Builders and Contractors and as chief economic adviser to the Construction Financial Management Association. In 2007 and then again in 2016, Mr. Basu was selected by the Daily Record newspaper as one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people. The Baltimore Business Journal named him one of the region’s 20 most powerful business leaders in 2010. He holds four graduate degrees, including a JD and a PhD.

Daryl Cronk is the Senior Director of Market Research & Insights at Visit Orlando. Daryl overseas all functions of Visit Orlando's research department including primary and secondary research programs, internal performance measurements, and strategic planning. Daryl started with Visit Orlando in 1999 as a Research Analyst, and has been Director since 2008. Prior to moving to Orlando, Daryl was an Economist in the Statistics of Income Division of the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, DC. He also spent 5 years as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at the Orlando campus of Nova Southeastern University. Daryl has a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from James Madison University in Virginia, and a Masters of Arts in Applied Economics from the University of Central Florida

During this session you’ll hear the results of a new 2021 Futures Study which has just been released. The Study includes feedback from over 700 destinations in 50 countries. You will also learn about Visit Orlando’s new 3-year Strategic Plan.
Paul is President of NEXTFactor Enterprises Inc., a privately held company he established in 2015. In 2019, Paul sold a portion of NEXTFactor to MMGY Global, joining their global group of companies as Partner, President of MMGY NextFactor. He also serves as Managing Director of DestinationNEXT in a partnership with Destinations International, a professional trade association based in Washington DC.
He was one of three founding partners of lnterVISTAS Consulting Inc. in 1997. For 20 years, he played a major role in building it into a multinational company with offices in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He continues as an executive consultant for lnterVISTAS. In March 2020, in partnership with Tourism Economics, MMGY NextFactor launched OrganizationNEXT, a project on Strategic Recovery Planning.
Paul has successfully delivered strategic plans and master plans for many destination organizations, governments, non profit organizations, hotels and airports around the world. He has also completed organization reviews and developed start-up plans and business plans for new ventures. During the past six years, Paul has led the team that developed and delivered DestinationNEXT, an important Destinations International initiative informing the future of destination organizations.
