Event Description:
The April East Orlando Chamber Luncheon welcomes a candid conversation with New Valencia College President Kathleen Plinske, Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Bonefish Grill Lake Underhill. Dr. Plinske is the 5th President of the college and the first woman to rise to this distinction.
Dr. Kathleen Plinske serves as Executive Vice President and Provost and as Campus President of the Osceola, Lake Nona, and Poinciana Campuses at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. Prior to joining Valencia in 2010, Dr. Plinske began her career at McHenry County College, a community college in her hometown of Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Actively involved in her community, Dr. Plinske serves on the Board of CareerSource Central Florida. She has served as Board Chair of the Education Foundation of Osceola County, President of the Rotary Club of Lake Nona, and has also served on the Board of the Osceola Center for the Arts, Junior Achievement of Osceola County, and the Lake Nona Education Council. She has taught Spanish, mathematics, and leadership at Valencia College as well as graduate courses in educational leadership and e-learning for the University of Central Florida and Pepperdine University.
She has received numerous awards and recognition including selected Woman of the Year by the OBJ 40 under 40 in 2012, 2013 Alumni Distinguished Leadership Award from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy and 2019 UF 40 Gator under 40 recognition for outstanding young alumni to name a few.
What you didn’t know about her is:
- She entered a physics curriculum in college at age 16.
- Got straight “A’s” while attaining five academic degrees
- Is a Mensa member with one of the highest IQ’s in the world &
- Got a perfect score on the analytical portion of the GRE exam
