June is National PTSD Awareness Month and the East Orlando Chamber is helping to put a spotlight on an issue that affects so many of our veterans. PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) occurs in people after having experienced a particularly traumatic event like war, violent assault, accidents and so forth. Many recover from PTSD after a few days, weeks or months. Yet for others, the recovery might mean one year or more. It is a highly treatable disorder, but due to lack of knowledge, as well as the stigma attached to seeking mental help, many choose to ignore the problem and suffer through it.
Join us as we speak with a panel of community partners who help address this issue daily.
